So the game is over and likely at some point today you will converse about one of the most fun and intriguing parts of the last nights clash, what was the best commercial? There were a few good ones, fewer great ones, maybe even an inspirational one or two. Over all though what was the best? Like any opinion based rhetorical question your answer will likely be different from mine.
All in all there were several funny ones like the M&M introducing the new female Brown. Honda CR-V ad with Matthew Broderick which likely went over the youth’s head. They probably were wondering who Ferris Bueller was and what the big deal about his day off was. Audi picked up on what I hope is the dying fascination (no pun intended) with vampires. Acura bringing out Jerry Seinfeld and his desire to get first on a car list, another one which likely had the youth wondering what the hell a Soup Nazi is. Lastly in the realm of funny was Chevy Sonic’s Joy commercial which takes an interesting look at bugs in the grill of your car.
Now over all I was a fan of the IT’S HALFTIME IN AMERICA spit with Clint Eastwood. It was dirty, gritty and rough. Sure it ultimately was about Detroit making Ram, Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler’s but it had an over whelming American attitude to it. One that represents a pick yourself up and get back in this fight feeling. It was a commercial that was more about the message than the product. Sure it may all be a clever advertising ploy to get you thinking about the product but I like to think, for just one cynical free moment, that it is about more the message of digging our selves back to greatness as a country.
One that I think may gain some attention though in the EMS circuit is the Think Fast ad for Hyundai Genesis Coupe. It might just be the next big thing in CPR after “Hands only”. If you missed any or all of the commercials I have the Youtube links listed below
