Heard about this during #EMSToday, and have been waiting to find it online.
The EMS Voluntary Event Notification Tool
Congratulate our selves EMS’ers, a pat on the back is deserved! We have now taken a step to show that we are concerned with our industry. We, as an industry, can now submit our own near misses and LODD’s.
Why does this even matter? It will create a data base which then can be used for studies and lobbying for more safety standards when it comes to vehicles and working conditions. Until now we have had no unique data collection means to show our side of the story. There for we have had no substantial proof of what happens to our people other than when a LODD or a crash occurs.
In my opinion this is a step to get our industry out from under other entities and have some weighted date for professional organizations representing us on national levels to use. It is one of many steps we need to take and I am glad to see it.
I hope you never need to use it, but if you do, it is there.
