Even sick he makes us laugh

On a recent visit to the emergency room with my son we were tucked away in a corner, next to us was a patient who was sleeping off his ailment. It appeared to be a typical night in the old ER with drunks and 9.41 patients being wheeled and dragged escorted in by various agencies.

My son had been going through restless sleep and inconsolable wakes while in the ER. It was during one such wake though that he appeared to have a pep in his step, sipping some juice and snacking on popcorn. In an unforgettable moment during this time he caused a much needed laugh for the staff of the ER. The sleeping beauty mentioned earlier, began to stir and as he did would moan and groan. My son hearing this raised his eyebrow’s looking around with intrigue and did the most natural thing for a two year old boy.

“ROOOAAAARRRRRRR” sticking out his hand out, like a claw of a dinosaur, in the general direction of the unseen origin of the sound. This of course caused near by security to burst out laughing and nurses to venture down to see all the commotion. This, of course, only perpetuated my son to continue his responses to the continuing moans and groans. It was a much needed moment for the staff that only atwo year old could provide.
